Review: Energy Psychology, Interactive self-help guide

By David Herron

Energy Psychology: Interactive Self-Help Guide by David Feinstein is a thin little book packed with interesting ideas and practices. First I need to mention, this is not a Reiki book.

It is a handbook describing several processes aimed to provide the reader with tools for conditioning the bodies energies to overcome emotional problems, achieve psychological goals, and maximize inner well-being. The processes are related to acupressure, and fall in the camp of therapies known as "energy psychology".

The book very easily and gently begins from zero knowledge to clearly and succinctly introducing the reader to the energy psychology processes. These processes involve at least two things, the first being tapping on specific acupuncture points, and the second is to repeat affirmations designed to offset beliefs you have discovered about yourself. The goal is to unwind the belief and habitual systems you have built up in your life around emotional reactions, physical reactions, and habitual thinking.

The rest of the book covers ways to uplift yourself, and generally practices of generating positive energy within yourself.

There is a companion book and CDROM for health practitioners, Energy Psychology Interactive: Rapid Interventions for Lasting Change. I have not looked at this other book, but judging from the first I am sure it is heart-filled and a gentle introduction to this field.
